The Vestry pleased to announce that we have called the Reverend T. Birch Rambo as our new priest, and he has accepted the position.  Fr. Birch, his wife Katherine (Kate), and their 7- and 10-year old sons are excited about coming to St. Paul's and look forward to moving to Walla Walla.  We are now working on a letter of agreement and arrangements for their move. 

 

Fr. Birch and Kate will be leaders of their diocesan camp in late June, so are hoping to move in early to mid-July.  Kate will probably come out to house hunt before the family moves.  She teaches college-level biology and expects to continue teaching online classes once they have moved to Walla Walla.

T. Birch Rambo

The Reverend T. Birch Rambo (MDiv 2001 University of the South [Sewanee]; M.S. Life Sciences, University of Kentucky, B.A. Biology, New College of the University of South Florida) is currently Priest-In-Charge at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in Richmond, Kentucky (since 2004).  He has also served as Assistant to the Rector at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Lexington, Kentucky (and was the only resident clergy during the rector’s 6-month sabbatical).  His experience since receiving his Masters in Divinity includes serving as a transitional deacon (main duties: newcomer incorporation and evangelism), serving as a Day School Chaplain, Chairing the Hispanic Ministry Commission, and serving as a Trustee at Sewanee.  During Father Rambo’s time at The Church of Our Saviour, the parish has constructed a new church building (its first), average Sunday attendance has increased from 42 to 68, and pledges have doubled.  The thrust of his recent ministry has been Christian education.  He works closely with a youth group that is shared with a local Lutheran Church, is involved with college ministry, and he spends at least a week each year as chaplain at his diocesan camp.  Birch and Katherine have two young children. Heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who worked on the search and interviews, especially the members of the Search Committee who spent many hours on the process. 

 

Many people have commented that we should have known that God was guiding us when he sent Birch and Katherine (Kate) to visit St. Paul's located on Birch and Catherine!  I know we're all looking forward to welcoming Fr. Birch and his family when they join our church family.
